Boiler Projects
Dairy Processing Facility
The Challenge
The facility’s legacy burner control system relied on mechanical linkage assemblies to manage the fuel-to-air ratio. Over time, linkage wear, drift, and limited adjustment precision can lead to:
- Reduced combustion efficiency
- Increased maintenance requirements
- Combustion instability
- Greater operator involvement
The Solution
Landis Bonfitto Mechanical installed a Fireye NXF4000 Parallel Positioning Control System, eliminating mechanical linkages and introducing precision electronic control. Key elements of the upgrade included:
- Removal of legacy linkage-style burner controls
- Installation of Fireye NXF4000 control hardware
- Integration of parallel positioning actuators
- Precision fuel-to-air ratio programming
- Full commissioning and combustion tuning
- Configuration of master/slave boiler sequencing
Results Delivered
Improved Energy Efficiency
Following commissioning, the customer reported approximately 5% energy savings, achieved through precise electroniccontrol of the combustion process.
Enhanced Boiler Reliability
The Fireye system’s master/slave sequencing functionality automatically maintains the standby boiler in a hot-ready condition. In the event of a boiler failure, the system transitions without operator intervention.
Reduced Operator Workload
Automation of boiler sequencing and burner management simplifies plant operation and reduces manual oversight requirements.
Modernized Combustion Controls
Parallel positioning technology provides accurate, repeatable fuel-to-air ratio control across the firing range.
Significant Cost Reduction
Landis Bonfitto Mechanical completed all required gas utility rebate documentation, reducing the customer’s project cost by 50% while eliminating administrative burden
